Description

Rot rolled M1044 is a medium carbon steel used in general purpose applications when special quality is not required. It has good overall properties somewhat higher than low-carbon mild steel. 1044 may be fabricated using the usual structural methods. it is machinable and is capable of being induction hardened

Applications

Respond to heat treatment, and flame and induction hardening, but not recommended for carburizing or cyaniding. Die forging and hot upsetting are good to excellent. Typical uses include gears, shafts, axles, bolts, studs, and machine parts, plows and various other agricultural implements, such as sub-soilers, ditchers, border ridgers, cultivators, furrowers, and harrows. also used in manufacture and maintenance of construction machinery, such as tractors, scrapers, bulldozers, shovels, concrete mixers, etc. Other applications include die brakes, brake bands, racks, slides, etc.
